One-Shot Ambush — Burst Assassin

Overview

The One-Shot Ambush build is the most explosive PvP build in Mistfall Hunter. Your job is to appear out of nowhere, delete one target, and disappear before anyone responds. If a fight lasts more than 5 seconds, you played it wrong.

From the Ashes / Shadow Arts (the stealth-break damage amplifier) is the core of this build. Breaking stealth with Ambush into a Death Mark combo deals damage that bypasses most defensive cooldowns.

Target Priority

1. Seer (no stealth defense, high value elimination)

2. Sorcerer (glass cannon, dies in one combo)

3. Blackarrow (dangerous if you don't close instantly)

4. Other Shadowstrix (mirror match — whoever initiates wins)

5. Mercenary (avoid, too much sustain)

6. Withered Knight (very dangerous to engage — Parry punishes hard)

Core Combo

Standard One-Shot

Enter Stealth → approach from behind → Death Mark → Ambush (stealth break = Shadow Arts buff) → Poison Strike × 2 → heavy attack

Against tanky targets

Enter Stealth → Death Mark → Ambush → Poison Strike × 2 → Escape → re-Stealth → repeat

Getting caught

If detected before engaging: Escape immediately, re-Stealth, wait for a better angle. Never fight fair.

Talent Notes

• Shadow Arts — Your stealth-break damage amplifier. Every Ambush activates this.
• Lethal Tempo — Each hit in your combo increases the next hit's damage. The combo must flow.
• Venom Coat — Your Poison Strike now applies a stronger poison. DoT ticks finish off anyone who escapes.
• Predator — Bonus damage when attacking targets who don't know you're there.
• Phantasm — Shadow Clone to bait abilities or absorb cooldowns before you go in.
• Last Breath — When you drop below 20% HP, get one emergency burst window. Use Escape and Stealth instead.

Affix Notes

• Lethal — Raw kill power. Non-negotiable for an assassination build.
• Swift — Stealth and Escape have natural cooldowns. Swift reduces them significantly.
• Brutal — Amplifies your burst window when critting during Ambush.
• Spectral — Makes you harder to detect and track during repositioning.
• Precise — Crit chance directly amplifies Ambush and Lethal Tempo stacks.

Tips

Never fight in the open. Always use terrain to approach from angles. Death Mark before Ambush — the mark damage counts as part of the stealth-break combo. If you miss your combo, Escape and reset — there's no point in a fair fight.

In trio zones, mark the support first. A team without a Seer falls apart fast.
